A village well connected.
Drighlington is just 5 miles from Leeds and 4 miles from Bradford. This close proximity to two of West Yorkshire's biggest cities is why the town has a Bradford postcode but the Leeds telephone prefix. Today Drighlington is still classed as part of Morley although it is not governed by Morley Town Council and instead has its own parish council.

Drighlington sits on the site of the Battle of Adwalton Moor which is commemorated with four stones with plaques around the village common and an information board on the wall of the community library. You can also find a number of local shops in the village plus a post office, a community centre and several local pubs. Anything you can't find in Drighlington itself you can easily find in Morley just two and a half miles away, including two major supermarkets and an indoor market. The Leeds White Rose Shopping Centre is under four miles away too, offering high street shops and popular department stores.
Schools
Drighlington Primary School is rated as “good” in their 2019 Ofsted report making it a popular choice among parents. The school is known as an inclusive school and it thrives on it’s principles of keeping children safe and happy. The school also offers a diverse range of after school clubs covering everything from sports to music.
Tong Leadership Academy in Bradford is a new academy that provides local secondary education for children in Drighlington. The curriculum offered is broad and balanced but prioritises literacy, numeracy, languages, humanities and science.
Transport
Junction 27 on the M62 is also on the doorstep connecting Drighlinton with the M1 and M621 motorways as well.
Drighlinton is also very close to the A650, a direct route to both Bradford and Wakefield.
Morley train station is just a 15 minute drive away to the east while Low Moor railway station is the same journey time to the west. Between them these stations provide regular train services to Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Southport and London Kings Cross.
Outdoors
Oakwell Hall is furnished as a family home in the 1690s and offers visitors a real insight into a post-English Civil War household. The hall sits in over 100 acres of country park and also offers a visitor centre, gift shop, nature trail and playground. With plenty of picnic spots to enjoy over the summer months as well as the hall itself to tour, it’s a vibrant family attraction that’s well worth a visit, whatever the weather.
Shopping
At Junction 27 of the M62 you’ll find Birstall Shopping Park, home to everything from Costa to Dwell, TK Maxx, Wilkos and Tui as well as other nearby stores including the area’s only IKEA store. There is also the Showcase Cinema and a number of popular restaurants to visit offering everything from american to mexican and italian cuisines. It’s a hub of activity and it offers plenty of free parking.
Tong Garden Centre is Yorkshire’s largest independent garden centre and it stocks an extensive range of outdoor plants, gifts, home accessories and garden furniture. It’s also a great spot for lunch too thanks to the related restaurant complete with a family friendly outdoor adventure playground. For keen gardens the centre also regularly offers monthly gardening guides, top tips and gardening masterclasses, ideal if you have a new build garden to get established.
