Schools
Chapel Allerton Primary School is an Ofsted rated “Good” school, It’s housed in a Victorian building that has been modernised throughout and it enjoys a busy school calendar of events. An alternative choice for parents is Moorlands School, a private school in the Methodist Schools group renowned as being the oldest prep school in Leeds, having been founded in 1897. For secondary education there is a choice of; Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School, Allerton High School and slightly further afield, the Leeds City Academy. For further education, there is also Leeds Beckett University, which is just 5 minutes away from the heart of Meanwood by car.
Transport
Meanwood is just 10 minutes by car from Headingley train station where you can catch regular train services into Leeds, Knaresborough and York. The A6120, otherwise known as the Leeds outer ring road created the northern border between Meanwood and Adel. It travels around most of the city’s perimeter before it ends at junction 46 on the M1. Headingley Lane takes you directly from Meanwood, through Headingley and into Leeds Centre.
Outdoors
The Meanwood Valley Trail is a footpath that runs for a distance of 7 miles from Woodhouse Moor near Leeds University, through Breary Marsh and the Golden Acre Park before finally connecting with the Leeds Country Way.
Food & Drink
After finding success as a delivery service specialising in authentic sushi, bento and japanese delicacies, HanaMatsuri has now opened an equally successful restaurant in Meanwood. It serves am Omakase menu and is highly recommended. Meanwood is just five minutes away from one of Leeds’ most popular, lively and interesting suburbs; Chapel Allerton. Here you can find plenty of interesting places to visit including Further North, a craft beer bar, Seven Arts, The Mustard Pot and The Sunshine Bakery to name just a few Chapel Allerton best bits.
Meanwood Park and Meanwood Farm provide a welcome change of scenary from the typical suburban landscape too and it's a relatively short drive out into the Yorkshire countryside.
A relatively recent addition to Meanwood is the large Waitrose which offers both groceries and homewares. There are also some good local pubs serving locally brewed beers, a takeaway or two, beauticians and other good local amenities.
