What's On In Yorkshire This Year

If you’re looking for some entertainment this year don’t worry. We’ve got you covered! We’ve put together a list of the best events and festivals that are taking place in Yorkshire throughout the year.


Music Festivals


Leeds Festival Leeds Festival is one of the biggest rock festivals in the UK. Running since 1999, it has a long-established reputation for bringing some of the world’s biggest music acts to Leeds with headliners such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Blur, Oasis, Kings of Leon, and Kasabian to name but a few. Twinned with Reading Festival and taking place over August Bank Holiday weekend it has become a key date in the diary for many music fans. With options for full weekend tickets including camping or single day tickets this is a must.

One day music festivals held in Leeds, you can experience an outdoor event at Temple Newsam with more of a festival vibe as music acts strut their stuff across 5 stages. Alternatively, In the City offers a more intimate vibe as acts perform gigs across various indoor stages throughout the city centre. Not recommended for under14’s.
 
Tramlines Now in its 15th year, Tramlines is Sheffield’s biggest party with a weekend full of music and comedy. This tailors to all ages as it not only attracts the big names from the worlds of music and comedy but also art and performance. From spray painting to circus skills, funfair rides and some arts and crafts along the way there are many acts to keep the children entertained too. With camping options for the full weekend or single day tickets available it has something to suit everyone.



Bingley Weekender

A relatively new music for the grown-ups but one that is quickly gathering momentum and becoming a firm fan favourite. Thousands flock to Bingley for a weekend of live music to see some of the biggest names in music, such as Rag n Bone Man and Liam Gallaghers High Flying Birds.
 
York Proms A great evening of culture and entertainment, featuring a live orchestra, opera soloists and a spectacular firework finale. A celebration of music in the stunning backdrop of the medieval gardens in York.


 
Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival A jazz and blues music with a relaxed family friendly atmosphere. Here you can enjoy a smaller gathering with a sophisticated vibe in a stunning setting. You can see the UK’s hottest jazz and blues acts all on one main stage.
 

Food & Drink Festivals


The Great Yorkshire Show

The Great Yorkshire Show is a long running agricultural show that is entering its 164th year. This celebrates agriculture, farming, food, and countryside with a respect for tradition while still embracing new additions. It’s a popular event with over 140,000 visitors across the 4 days. There are livestock competitions, cookery demonstrations, farm machinery, show jumping and lots of tasty treats in the food hall. Suitable for all ages it really is a great family fun day out.
 

Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival

The UK’s biggest food and drink festival with a fabulous line up of celebrity chefs, live music from tribute acts, plenty of delicious street food and family entertainment. With headline chefs such as Gino D’Campo and James Martin, live music from DJ Gok Wan, a kids cookery school, vintage funfair, and petting zoo it’s a food and drink full of fun for all the family. Stay and camp for the full weekend or enjoy a fun-filled day out.
 

The Great British Food Festival

The nations favourite food festival with lots of goodies and treats that allows the whole family to come together and enjoy a special day out. With artisan markets to explore, chef demonstrations, man vs food challenges, bars and live music, there’s plenty to keep the adults happy. Don’t forget the kids, with a petting zoo, cookery classes, bouncy castles and fairground rides too they’ll be entertained for hours.
 

Wakefield Rhubarb Festival

Wakefield is the home of the rhubarb triangle, the holy grail of rhubarb, and to celebrate they host a food and drink market with over 60 chalets. Here you can sample and purchase local and regional delights including everything from the finest gins, jams, pickles, cheese, baked goods and so much more!

Malton Food Lovers Festival

Set across the streets of Yorkshire’s Food Capital, Malton Food Lovers Festival is a celebration of Yorkshire's finest produce & cooking. Expect artisan stalls, delicious street food, talks, tastings, celebrity chefs, demos, festival bar, live music and much more. It’s a foodie extravaganza that attracts some of the country’s best chefs from the Great British Menu and Bake off The Professionals, and best of all, its free to enter.
 

Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival

The biggest Vegan Celebration is now entering its 8th year and is still growing. Here you’ll find over 80 stalls of tasty delights, dairy and meat alternatives, inspirational talks and health and beauty products.


Family Friendly Festivals



Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta

The ultimate weekend of music, family entertainment and hot air balloons. A unique mix of incredible musical performances the whole family will enjoy, funfair rides, street food stalls and a mass balloon launch with lots of extraordinary hot air balloon shapes. Camp for the weekend for an amazing festival experience or book for the day for a magical day to remember.
 

Underneath The Stars

This is a family friendly with lots of live music acts, street food and family entertainment. With storytelling, theatre performances, toys and games there’s plenty to keep little ones entertained. Traditional camping options are available for the weekend or you could stay in style with exclusive glamping tents.
 

Deer Shed

A wonderland of creativity, Deer Shed is a family friendly music festival, featuring comedy and literature performances too. With shows, science workshops, cinema, and a designated Under 5’s area it’s a jam-packed weekend where there is something for everyone to enjoy.


Sporting Events

 

The Ashes, Cricket
  • England vs Australia - Ashes 2023 - Yorkshire County Cricket Club
  • Location: Headingley Cricket Club, Leeds
  • Dates: 6 – 10 July 2023

England’s cricketers will be trying to regain the coveted Ashes Trophy after a heavy defeat in Australia last Winter. England play Australia in the Ashes 3rd Test at Headingley in Leeds, Yorkshire.

Premier League Darts

Your chance to see all the top darts players in the world up close and in action. See the biggest names, such as World champion Michael Smith, competing in the Premier League for the Championship title.
 

England’s Strongest Man

See Legends of British Strongman have all cut their teeth at England’s Strongest Man, and with the next generation of exciting athletes coming through the ranks, we could eventually see the winner atop the World’s Strongest Man podium.
 

Ebor Festival, Horse Racing

The week to visit the spectacular York racecourse featuring the oldest, richest, fastest and most famous races. Here you will experience sporting excellence combined with fashion and fun over four fabulous days.
