The Buffers is a family friendly local pub in Scholes offering delicious home cooked food and cask ales. In 2017 it was a Martons National Winner of the Customer Focussed Pub of the Year awards and it has some highly favourable reviews on Tripadvisor too, earning it the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and Hall of Fame awards since 2014. Fun fact (thank you Wikipedia) - Its name is a plural of the word skáli, Old Norse for "temporary shed".
The area is perhaps best known for "Chippy's Quarry", which originally produced the high quality bricks many houses in the surrounding area are built with. Today however, the quarry is no longer in use and instead, provides two small fishing lakes for the local area.

Scholes is also home to several shops, an off licence, two pubs, two churches and a local library providing all the key amenities you need right on your doorstep. There is also the Seacroft Green shopping centre and Cross Gates Shopping Centre within easy access and of course the centre of Leeds itself, which is only 7.5 miles away via the A64
