Mother's Day Activities

Things To Do With Mum This Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and it’s the first one out of lockdown, so we feel like we should all be doing a little something extra to make the day special. If you don’t know where to start, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. Here are our top places to visit and things to buy to help you treat your mum this Mother’s Day.

Flowers

Mother’s Day wouldn’t be complete without a beautiful bunch of flowers. You can keep it simple with a bouquet of flowers complete with a side of chocolates and a little note to let them know how much you care. Or you can step things up and pay for a subscription, treating your mum to fresh flowers though the post monthly.

A few of our favourite bouquets available this year are The 100 Stem Bouquet from Marks and Spencer – very on trend with spring flowers, and The Ellen from Bloom and Wild. For flower subscriptions, we really like Freddie’s Flowers. When you subscribe you can get for your first 2 orders for only £12.50 each!

Afternoon Tea

The Ivy is one of the best afternoon tea spots in Leeds city centre. Stylish, sophisticated, and located in the spectacular Victoria Quarter, the historic building offers a fantastic dining experience that your mum won’t forget. If you fancy trying an afternoon tea with a twist, you should try LIVIN’ Italy. This place brings a taste of la dolce vita to Leeds in their all-new Italian afternoon tea. You’ll find this hidden gem in the Leeds’ popular Granary Wharf area just behind Leeds train station.

If you don’t fancy leaving the comfort of your own home, you could always get afternoon tea delivered straight to your front door. Bettys, Lola’s Cupcakes and Cutter and Squidge all have amazing afternoon tea selections, so make sure to check them out as another alternative. It’s the perfect opportunity to try somewhere new that you’ve been eyeing up on Instagram!

Sunday Lunch

With Mother’s Day falling on Sunday 27th March, what better way to celebrate than with a Sunday lunch. Whether it’s at the local pub or a proper home cooked meal with extra Yorkshire puds – a Sunday lunch will go down an absolute treat. Just make sure to get a dessert sorted as well and add a little glass of wine for that extra touch of luxury.

A few of our favourite places to visit for a Sunday lunch are Spotted Cow in Driglington, The Queens Head in Burley in Wharfedale and The Royal Oak in Burton Leonard. Make sure to book ahead of time, as these places are very popular and tables get booked up quickly.

Fresh Bakes

Why not brush off the cobwebs and resurface the baking skills that you acquired throughout lockdown this Mother’s Day? No, we’re not talking about banana bread – unless that your mums’ favourite. We’re talking about bakes like a dedicant Victoria sponge or a delicious stack of brownies and blondies. Nothing says I love you more than a dessert that’s been lovingly handmade.

Our go to websites online for the best baking recipes are Jane PatisserieMary Berry, and of course the Great British Bake Off. If you do bake any of their delicious treats, make sure to tag us on social media so we can see what you chose – and if the backdrop is a Chartford Home’s kitchen then there’ll be extra brownie points for you!

Little bits & bobs

If your mum is anything like ours, then they’re bound to love tea and coffee so what better way to show your appreciation for them this Mother’s Day than gifting them their new favourite mug. Cath Kidston and Emma Bridgewater have some amazing floral print mugs that would be perfect for enjoying a cuppa on a spring morning. And if mugs aren’t for your mum then how about a luxury new candle? If you want your mum to be surrounded by pure bliss this Mother’s Day, then we recommend choosing a candle from The White Company or Hotel Chocolat candle collections, they’re simply fabulous.

If your mum has been spending more time in her home office than anywhere else in the house recently, why not think about upgrading her desk with some stylish desk décor. Perhaps she’d like a new bottle like the Chilly Bottles to keep her hydrated or a lovely new notepad from Paperchase to make those all-important work notes.

Another lovely gift idea is filling a photo frame with some of you (or your mum’s) most treasured memories from yours or her childhood. Etsy have some amazing handmade photo frames to choose from to help make this a reality.

So, there you have it, a few ideas to really treat your mum this Mother’s Day. We hope you’ve been inspired with our ideas for how to treat the special lady in your life this year and of course, don’t forget Mother’s Day is on Sunday 27th March!
