South Stainley, Burton Leonard and the Lime Quarries Wildlife Reserve walk is a straightforward and easy walk found in the countryside between Ripon and Harrogate through two villages and a disused quarry site which is managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
Ripon Rowel Walk to Burton Leonard a linear walk from Ripon which takes you along the banks of the Ripon Canal and the River Ure and through the villages of Bishop Monkton and Burton Leonard.

Scarecrow Festival which is held over the Early May Bank Holiday. A map showing the location of all the scarecrows and the themes can be picked up from the village hall and then you can walk around at your own pace choosing your own route. A few stalls are set up on the village green selling second-hand books and offering tombola prizes. There's a village feast and a flower show that arrives every summer providing great family fun and entertainment.
