Leeds' Best Places To Live

The Top 10 Places To Live In Leeds

There’s a reason we’ve been building housing in and around Leeds over the last 20 years, and that’s because the area is home to some of the best places to live. From lively suburbs to sleepy villages, Leeds has it all. So, where exactly are the best places to live in Leeds?

Horsforth Is One Of The Best Places To Live In Leeds

Horsforth

Consistently rated as one of the best places to live in Leeds is the well-connected suburb of Horsforth where we’re soon to be building our Horsforth Grange development.

One of the major attractions is the local train station. This makes getting in to Leeds, York and Harrogate a piece of cake, whether you’re commuting in for business or just taking a family day out. A second key attraction is Horsforth’s primary schools which are among some of the best in the region.

For these reasons, Horsforth is hugely popular with young couples and growing families who are looking to put down roots somewhere that enjoys all the benefits of being close to Leeds, but with the quieter lifestyle and community spirt of an affluent suburb.

Chapel Allerton

Similar to Horsforth, Chapel Allerton is another Leeds suburb that’s popular with young professionals. It enjoys a lively centre and a good combination of independent cafes, delis and shops alongside popular bars and restaurants.

Roundhay Is One Of Leeds Best Places To Live

Roundhay

It should come as no surprise that the affluent suburb of Roundhay has made it on the list of best places to live in Leeds. Of course, it goes without saying that one of Roundhay’s major attractions is the park, which provides acres of beautiful green space and is a key venue for some of the area’s most popular events including the 5th November fireworks display.

Beyond the park though, Roundhay also boasts a number of independent shops and delis as well as pubs, bars and restaurants, so there are plenty of local amenities right on the doorstep, and Leeds itself if just 5 minutes down the road.

Being such a sought after location, houses don’t stay on the market for long as we know only too well as our Hampton Park development is already generating lots of interest. Best move quick if this is where you’d like to live in Leeds…

Leeds Waterfront

It’s not all about the suburbs though. Leeds Waterfront is definitely one of the city’s best places to live not least because absolutely everything is right on the doorstep: shops, bars, pubs, cafes, restaurants, businesses, the train station…the list is endless. As the name suggests the Leeds Waterfront also enjoys a picturesque location along the banks of the River Aire.

Headingley

While Headingley has long been the centre of student living in Leeds, it is actually still a thriving suburb that has a lot to offer everyone, not just students. For starters Headingley town centre is full to the brim with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants of all shapes, styles and sizes.

Second, it has not one, but two train stations close by: Headingley station to one side of the town and Burley Park to the other, providing easy access into Leeds, Harrogate and York.

Like many of the locations on this list, homes here don’t stay on the market long and demand is high. If you’re thinking about buying a new home in Headingley you can find out more about our Victoria Square development now.

Alwoodley

As one of the most prosperous areas of Leeds, Alwoodley is a sought after place to live and with local treasures include the beautiful Eccup Reservoir and two impressive golf courses, that’s why Alwoodley is one of the best places to live in Leeds.

Bramhope

Most people looking to live in Leeds will have stumbled across the popular district of Adel and Wharfedale, and one particularly picturesque village in the district is Bramhope. Like the area as a whole it has a notoriously agriculture and rural heritage despite being just nine miles away from the bustling city centre of Leeds. So if you decide to live in Bramhope, you really can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Otley

Sticking close to Adel and Wharfedale, we’re also putting Otley on our list of best places to live in Leeds. It’s nestled in the Wharfe Valley and is overlooked by acres and acres of rolling countryside known locally as the Otley Chevin Forest Park.

As well as the rural lifestyle, the market town of Otley also enjoys a busy local market and lively community spirit. It hosts a number of festivals and carnivals throughout the year as well.

Meanwood

And finally we are ending our list with one of the up and coming areas in Leeds, Meanwood. It’s just a stone’s throw from two highly regarded primary schools, enjoys all the commuter connections that come with its location on the Leeds outer ring road and its home to some excellent local establishments including bars, eateries and a vintage furniture store.

And there you have it, that’s our list of the best places to live in Leeds. But before you go away thinking we might be biased, don’t just take our word for it, see what New Home Finder, Metro and the Yorkshire Evening Post are saying about moving to Leeds too.
