Your Guide To Living in Menston

A Weekend In Menston

After recently launching no less than three brand new house types at our small, luxury development of family homes in Menston, we thought it was time we explored the local Menston community in a little more detail.
The village itself is tucked away in the rolling countryside found at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales.

However, despite the beautifully rural surroundings, this small village is surprisingly well connected. Both the cosmopolitan city of Leeds and the multi-cultural city of Bradford are both within ten miles south of the village and the local towns of Otley, Guiseley and Burley-in-Wharfedale are also close by.

This perfect balance between quiet, rural surroundings and convenient access to major business hubs is one of the key reasons why Menston is such a popular place for families to put down roots, in their forever home.

So, if you’re tempted to move to Menston, just how might you be spending your future Saturdays and Sundays?

Well next weekend (18th and 19th March 2017), you could kick start your Saturday by heading down to the Menstone Club to join The Menston Evening Townswomen’s Guild at their cake and coffee morning in support of Comic Relief. The Townswomen’s Guild represents just one of many active clubs and societies in the village, which between them offer everything from art classes, to gardening clubs, writing groups and bridge playing clubs.

Or if you prefer you could always take the entire family down to Menston Park for a quiet walk, or any golf enthusiasts could enjoy a round of 18 holes at the Otley Golf Club.

After that you could head on to one of the many excellent places open for lunch. A few favourites include A Casa Di Alessia in Otley which serves authentic Italian homemade pizzas or you could give The Chevin Inn a try and enjoy amazing food alongside panoramic views of the rolling countryside.

Then if you’re still looking for something to do why not join the Menston Community Association for a film showing at the Methodist Church Hall? The club regularly show films and in March alone residents can look forward to watching ‘About A Boy’ and ‘The Adventures Of Mowgli’ while enjoying all the essential film refreshments of ice cream and popcorn.

After such a busy day if you’re still feeling like even more fun, then you can always head down into the city of Leeds for an evening of cultural entertainment. As well as being spoiled for choice when it comes to places to eat, you could also enjoy some theatre at the Leeds Grand or catch a music concert at the First Direct Arena. Wine bars, local breweries and exclusive cocktail bars also leave you with plenty of options for enjoying a quiet drink.

With the potential for such busy Saturday’s, when it comes to Sunday’s we don’t think there’s any better way to enjoy living in Menston, than by strapping on a pair of comfy walking boots and heading out for a gentle stroll or if you prefer, a real hike, across places like Ilkley Moor, Rombald’s Moor and Denton Park.

Does that sound like the life for you?
