Spring Homeware Best Buys

Spring Best Buys For An On-trend Home

If you want an on trend home this year then take a look at some of our spring best buys for 2019. Whether you’ve a huge budget or a mini budget, there’s plenty of design inspiration to go around.

Terrazzo

Terrazzo everywhere from floors to walls and everything in-between.

Terrazzo is a composite material made up of things like marble, quartz, granite and even glass, set into a cement base that can be pigmented. It’s one of the original sustainable materials and it dates back as far as 16th century Italy! It comes in virtually any shape, size and colour making it exceptionally versatile and of course, it’s incredibly hard-waring too. Our favourite Terrazzo picks include the Pegase washbasin and the Terrazzo bulb holder table lamp but if traditional terrazzo isn’t for you, then you can still get the look with Lorena Canal’s Terrazzo inspired rug!

Curves

Look out for curvy furniture inspired by the 1970s

From sofas to sideboards, furniture is going from straight lines to curves this season, making it the perfect match for more feminine styles. We love this velvet armchair from Cult Furniture; the strong mustard colour makes it a real statement piece while the velvet material adds a touch for Art Deco luxury.
For a slightly bigger budget, you can also invest in luxury pieces like the Deluxe Tamboured Bar Cabinet from Anthropologie.

Galleries

Make a statement with a well-chosen gallery wall.

Gallery walls have been around for a while and over 2019 their popularity is set to increase. They can be tricky to get right and take a real eye for design so if you’re feeling creative then go for it but if you’re less confident in your abilities then we recommend investing in a ready-made gallery wall from the likes of Desenio. This green, botanical themed one is ideal for tying in with the ‘green as a colour and green as a concept’ trend too.

Black stainless steel

Good looking cooking; get sleek with black stainless-steel appliances

This new take on traditional stainless steel is being touted as the bolder, sexier alternative to silver appliances. It’s made up of the same composition of metals as regular stainless steel, but it has an added protective coating that creates that super stylish black matte finish. That means it not only looks good, but it’s still practical, durable and heat resistant; everything you need in a kitchen. If this is a look you want in your home, then Curry’s PC World has a good range of appliances including fridges, washing machines and ovens from a wide selection of well-known brands, beware though, some of the price tags could be bigger than expected.

Art deco

Art deco glamour using velvet, marble and metal

Nothing quite says art deco glamour like this fabulous bar cart from Anthropologie. It features a brass frame with a beautiful marble top as well as those all-important curves for an on trend look this season. In fact, we’ll be seeing a lot more metal and marble this year across a range of different types of homeware, from furniture to accessories and the most stylish interiors will be layering up different metals, marbles and metallic textures to create an expensive, glamourous feel.

Waterfall

Waterfall worktops and kitchen islands

The kitchen island has been a firm favourite for interior designs for a while now and that’s really no surprise, it creates extra workspace, an in formal dining area and a focal point for the room. This year, we’re expecting to see more and more kitchen islands, or for smaller spaces kitchen peninsula’s as we move through 2019. It’s certainly and investment but one we think is definitely worth while and for even more style, choose a waterfall worktop for a sleek, modern look. Wren kitchens have a great collection of kitchens featuring different styles of worktops and islands and for smaller budgets then look to Ikea for cutting edge design on a budget.

There you have some of our best buys for an on-trend interior this year, whether you’re thinking of a full scale kitchen renovation or just a mini make over, there’s something to suit everyone and every budget. Happy shopping.
